Kathryn “Kat” Zajac is owner of Ascend Cycle and Underground, a spin studio located in Del Ray that aims to help its clients reach peak performance. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The George Washington University and trained as a health coach with the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. At Ascend, Kat combines all her experience to create a holistic fitness community. As owner of the only women-owned, non-franchised cycling boutique in Alexandria, Kat has been featured in Washingtonian and Alexandria Stylebook. She is an active member of the Del Ray Business Association’s Wellness Committee, a leader of the Del Ray Fit Crawl, a Junior Friend of the Campagna Center, and a member of the Mount Vernon Underground. Kat has donated nearly $8K in cash and in-kind services to charities, including a partnership with Redskins legend Santana Moss for his charity 89 Ways to Give and to support local Alexandria City Public Schools. Kat lives in Alexandria with her husband, Joe, and their two children, Alexander and Anna Victoria.
